Across my career I have led multiple teams of analysts to develop insights and deliver operational excellence in many different types of businesses. I have sat at the senior management table to represent the data in constructing big business strategies and execution plans, board reports, and risk factor analyses.
I come at this from a pure mathematical background, but I have practically used statistics throughout my entire career – including in areas like consumer surveys and population-based data for the Irish government.
The algorithmic kind. No runways were harmed in the making of this skill.
These models use data to extrapolate how people will use and react to a system or feature of a system.
I learned to write R during my Master’s degree, continuing on to dip a toe into Python and SQL. In Millionaire Moxie, we mostly use Java Script. My favourite tools are still the no-code tools, though!
As the saying goes, no moss grows on a rolling stone. I am always looking for a new challenge; seeking out new things to learn. In a previous role, I was even a founding member of an in-house business innovation incubator.
I’m a people person, and my favourite thing about the work I do in Millionaire Moxie is knowing that this work is making a big impact on the lives of a lot of small business owners, including my good friend Valerie. Going out on your own to start your own business venture is such a brave move. I’m glad I can play a part in making that more fulfilling for so many people.
I studied Mathematics and Statistics in the world renowned Trinity College Dublin. Most of my career has been spent working in data analytics and business forecasting in Dublin. But I wasn’t a city guy before that. I grew up on a small family-owned farm, so I’ve seen first-hand how much owning a small business can mean to a family.
